If you’ve been doing projects in Remotasks lately, you’ll soon realize that it’s important to set a “flow” going in order to maximize the way you tackle a task. After all, different tasks have different demands, especially when it comes to time and skill level. However, did you know that there’s actually a way to ace your tasks much faster without compromising quality? Here are some tips to speed up your tasking process by tweaking some aspects of how you organize your projects:
- Choose your tasks according to difficulty. Interestingly, a huge part of our success in accomplishing tasks quickly and with high remarks lies on how we choose tasks in the first place. For instance, we might want to choose easy tasks first so we can finish them much faster and clear more of them in our queue. Likewise, we might want to do more complex tasks first so we always stay sharp with regards to instructions. A healthy mix of both can also help us stay alert and still finish tasks quickly. For instance, we can reserve a complex task as a finisher after we finish a couple of easy tasks.
- Select your tasks according to the project type. Likewise, a strategic way of acing tasks quickly lies in what kind of tasks we choose in the first place. Instead of choosing random tasks according to complexity, we might want to consider their project type. For instance, both easy and challenging tasks under the same project type can be much easier to do since we’ll be following the same set of general instructions. A good example of this is keeping our tasks for the week within the purview of 2D Tasks or 3D Tasks and not intermixing both. That way, we can keep our focus within the same interface and the same general instructions, with only minor adjustments depending on the tasks themselves.
- Take quick notes while taking up your course and reading the instructions. Sometimes, the key to acing tasks lies not in the task itself, but in the instructions. Whenever you reach the instructions section of any task or project type - be it via the task queue or back in the Training Center - always get ready with a notepad to take notes. Pay attention to what specific things the project type will ask with regards to annotation and labeling. If you feel as though two project types have the same sets of instructions, pay attention to the values the project types are asking as chances are the differences will be in those numbers or metrics.
- Always recheck the instructions before doing a task. Whenever you take a task under a project type, regularly check the instructions to see if there are any revisions. Chances are, we get low marks because we didn’t notice a small revision in the instructions. In that regard, we should always keep our notes nearby and do a quick comparison with the instructions as provided in the task. That way, we can immediately identify whether we need to make minor adjustments to our approach or keep doing them the way we’ve used to.
- Find your way around blockers and dead zones. Chances are, you don’t like to do certain tasks because they’re too difficult or take too long to accomplish. However, this doesn’t mean a task is impossible to finish. Rather, this may simply mean that you haven’t discovered your way around a task’s blockers yet. To do this, try to identify which parts of a task or a project type are taking too much of your time. Are you taking too long to finish annotating objects? Are you having a hard time with labels? Once you identify what’s taking too much of your time, the easier it is for you to find a solution to lessen the time it takes to accomplish these steps.
- Pay attention to revisions and feedback. Granted, we always want to ace our tasks as early as possible. However, we shouldn’t feel bad whenever a Reviewer returns a task with a set of revisions for us to review and check. Rather, a Reviewer’s feedback should be our source of inspiration and notes on how to improve. We should compare a Reviewer’s suggested revision with regards to our original work and see which areas we missed in the attempt. That way, we can remember to pay more attention to these aspects of our work the next time we do these kinds of project types.
